Braemar - Historic Towns & Cities of the Adriatic Cruise
Embark on an unforgettable exploration of the Adriatic aboard Braemar and discover stunning highlights, UNESCO-listed sites and authentic experiences in captivating Italian, Croatian and Montenegrin towns and cities.
En route to the Adriatic you’ll stop-off in the cultural Spanish city of Malaga and visit beautiful Valletta. Enjoy views of the Maltese capital’s spectacular Grand Harbour as you glide into port, then go ashore for the chance to explore the 16th century walled city or tour to medieval Mdina. A call into Kotor will then ensure a memorable start to your Adriatic adventure. With its stunning scenery, narrow streets and fine Romanesque structures, this beautifully preserved medieval fortified town is a delight to explore. Be sure to kayak the tranquil waters of the Bay of Kotor too. The following afternoon you’ll arrive in mesmerising Venice for an overnight stay, after cruising the glorious Laguna Veneta. Tick attractions such as the 14th century Doge’s Palace and the St. Mark’s Basilica off your ‘must-visit’ list; and take the chance to enjoy a gondola ride along the iconic canals at dusk – a simply unmissable experience. Then it’s on the small Venetian fishing town of Chioggia, the perfect place to relax after immersing yourself in the hustle and bustle of busy Venice.
This incredible journey continues in Croatia, where Split will appear on your horizon. Lush forested islands and staggering coastal scenery will provide astonishing views to enjoy from your ship’s decks before arriving in Split, which is home to the Roman ruins of Diocletian’s Palace and a number of architectural delights hidden within the city’s fortress-like heart. To encounter some of Croatia’s most breathtaking natural beauty, take a tour to Krka National Park and marvel at the tumbling Skradinski Buk Waterfall. You’ll also visit Dubrovnik, Croatia’s ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’, where you can stroll the iconic city walls in search of historic churches, monasteries, palaces and houses topped by the famous terracotta roofs. Riding the cable car is a great way to see this simply stunning city from a different perspective too. After your extensive Adriatic exploration there’s also the opportunity to sample wines in Marsala or seek out the fifth century Doric Temple on the Italian island of Sicily; and explore the Spanish city of Cartagena before visiting Lisbon, the Portuguese capital and your final port of call.
