P&O Oriana - Portugal, Italy & Spain Cruise
Discover the most majestic cities of the Mediterranean.
Following a day at sea to enjoy Oriana, arrive in historic Oporto (tours from Leixoes), before donning your walking shoes in Gibraltar. You’ll need them, whether it’s to climb the Rock or for a duty-free shopping marathon.
Across turquoise waters, we reach Sardinia’s shimmering capital Cagliari, then it’s on to bustling Palermo, a cocktail of architectural styles awash with Sicilian mystery.
Perched on a craggy cliff, overlooking the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius, Sorrento is the essence of civilised Italy. Shopping is fantastic as it’s renowned for local crafts including leather, ceramics, lace and marquetry known as intarsio. From here, you can strike out to the Amalfi peninsula’s unspoilt interior and superlative (though terrifying to drive) coastline.
Sailing on to Livorno, it will be a tough choice between Pisa or Florence. The Leaning Tower is just one of many towers in Pisa (though, admittedly, most are boringly vertical and not so good for a selfie). Florence is compact and walkable. Don’t miss the Ponte Vecchio.
You won’t want to change a thing in picture perfect Santa Margherita. So relax before heading to dynamic Toulon, then bustling Barcelona with its stunning beach-front, endless culture and Gaudi plus a vibrant drinking and dining scene. Stroll the cobbled lanes of the gothic quarter, tuck into tapas or take the gravity defying cable car across the harbour to see the Olympic Stadium on Montjuic.
Our last stop is Seville (from Cadiz). Awash with cultural heritage, this birthplace of flamenco is home to the world’s third largest cathedral and to the secret lanes of the Barrio of Santa Cruz.
